Waterlase Exclusive Trial Program: A Seamless Integration of Patient-Friendly Laser Technology

By Dr. Eniko Loud

I believe that excellent oral health is the gateway to overall health. Over the years, I have strived to offer functional dentistry and holistic care via advanced dental procedures, health, and nutritional coaching for my patients.

When I first started researching dental lasers, I knew I wanted this new technology integration to be as seamless as possible and fit into my workflow and patient plans. I researched lasers for about six months before being introduced to the Waterlase Exclusive Trial Program (WETP) by my local BIOLASE representative. BIOLASE was at top of my list during the research stage where I was able to download many of their clinical articles and protocols – and my representative was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process.

What intrigued me most about the WETP was the 45-day in-office trial with the laser! Being able to try out the laser for myself and get acquainted before even purchasing was an opportunity I had not been presented with before. To my knowledge, it was a trial program no other laser company could match.

The Waterlase Exclusive Trial Program experience, from start to finish, was beyond my expectations. During the initial two-day group training, the BIOLASE instructors were extremely knowledgeable, covering everything from laser physics to safety, history, and the science behind the laser. We also had a very interactive hands-on experience with the Waterlase. The instructors and the BIOLASE team made sure we covered a vast number of procedures and settings that helped me feel comfortable with using the laser in my practice.

New technology can be intimidating for anyone trying it for the first time, however, from the moment our Waterlase was installed in our office, our BIOLASE representative and Field Service Engineer were on top of it – helping the entire office team get familiar with the laser and answering questions.

Over the next few weeks, we learned and practiced laser-assisted procedures with the help and support of the BIOLASE team. One of the things that really sets this in-office training apart was the accessibility and knowledge of the instructors/mentors – they even helped our billing team get set up to easily track productivity and ROI! I knew at this very moment that our investment would pay for itself.

Since incorporating the Waterlase, I have seen a positive shift in my practice, including our office team, and definitely with our patients. While moderate to severe periodontal patients may require a periodontist, we manage early periodontitis, especially for patients who cannot afford specialty fees. This has been one of the biggest driving factors for my current and new patients.

Patients can see and feel the difference and are ecstatic about having more comfortable dental visits. As their dentist, this is the reaction and outcome I expect to provide for my patients. As a clinician, the ease of performing surgical and restorative procedures with my Waterlase is something I enjoy every day.
